Types of Random Access Memory

Static Random Access Memory (SRAM) is more often used for system cache. SRAM is classified as static as it doesn’t need to be refreshed, unlike dynamic RAM, which needs to be refreshed thousands of times per second.
The term ‘dynamic’ in Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) indicates that the memory must be constantly refreshed or it will lose its contents. DRAM is typically used for the main memory in computing devices.
Fast Page Mode Dynamic Random Access Memory, also known as FRM DRAM was the original form of DRAM. A FRM DRAM waits through the entire process of locating a bit of data by column and row and then reading the bit before it starts on the next bit.
