Measure the length of the pole from the base to just below the hooks and feeders, as this is the area you will cover. Once measured, cut your PVC with the same length and slide it over the pole. Ensure that it is stable on the ground by digging a hole in the soil or by pounding it down with a hammer.

The next step would be to cover the top of the PVC pipe with a PVC cap to prevent birds and other animals from being trapped between the pole and the PVC. Make sure the cap you use fits the PVC pipe perfectly, and if possible, have an enclosed design like the one shown above so it can be fastened to the pipe without the use of additional tools. Drill a hole just large enough on top of the cap to allow it to slide over the pole. After that, you can finally attach the top part of the poles, including the hooks and the feeders.
